All clergy appointed to the local church and S/PPRC are to complete this evaluation form and return it to the District Office by May 1st. This includes those clergy who are retiring or moving this year.

Creating a Culture of Renewal- Pictured Rocks Camp, Monticello
Creating a Culture of Renewal training program registration is now open. This training is changing leadership across the country, and coming to the Iowa Conference now! For both clergy and laity, this program is directed by Rebekah Simon-Peter, and is designed to develop skills in leaders to accelerate church vitality and disrupt church decline. Rebekah has been a presenter in the East Central District for the past 2 years. Creating a Culture of Renewal is an empowering approach to self-awareness, leadership and ministry. Using emotional intelligence, you will master practical leadership tools to bring new life to your congregation. You will discover the vital interplay between interpersonal communication, group dynamics, and congregational culture.  Successful completion earns you a Certificate of Congregational Renewal. April 22~ Conference Laity Day with Bishop Haller- Indianola, First UMC - 9:30 AM
This year's special feature will be Bishop Laurie's presentations. She will also have her book, Recess; Rediscovering Play and Purpose, available for purchase and signing. Bishop Laurie is a prolific writer, including a weekly blog, "Leading From the Heart" at www.lauriehaller.org. Bishop Laurie's book speaks to her spiritual journey which she will share in her afternoon presentation. There will be lunch, worship, hymns in addition to opportunities to look at the displays and visit with Mission, Cokesbury and Iowa Religious Media Services representatives. Laity Day is FREE. April 23~ District Conference and Pre-Annual Conference- Marion, Living Water UMC - 2:30 PM
Please join your District Ministry Team, Sunday, April 23 at Living Water UMC (1155 Grand Ave, Marion) for a time of worship, vision casting and business of the East Central District. We will also have a time of discussion about Annual Conference. All Pastors and Lay Members to Annual Conference should be present for our time of celebration and vision casting. District Conference begins at 2:30 PM and we hope to finish by 5:00 PM.

September 1-2~ Basic and Advanced Lay Servant Training- Anamosa, First UMC
Both classes will be held at Anamosa, First UMC on Friday, September 1 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, September 2 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Cost is the purchase of the book and a donation will be collected for the noon meal at the church on Saturday. Lodging and other meals are on your own. Registration for classes can be found by clicking on the class you wish to attend; Basic Lay Servant or Advanced Lay Servant.
