Farewell Gathering for Rev. Dr. Jill Sanders, East Central District Field Outreach Minister
Jill's Farewell Gathering will be from 4 to 7:00 PM at Lovely Lane UMC (2424 42nd Street NE, Cedar Rapids) on Sunday, June 25.
Bishop Laurie Haller has appointed East Central District Field Outreach Minister, Jill Sanders, to be the senior pastor of Ames Collegiate United Methodist Church, beginning on July 1.

Volunteers needed during Wellness Screening
Kae Tritle, Wellness Coordinator is looking for persons with experience as medical/lab technicians, paramedics, nurses, respiratory therapists, and doctors. If you are attending Annual Conference as a member or an observer, please consider assisting with this valuable service. Times; Saturday, June 10, 6 am to 8:30 am and Monday, June 12, from 5:30 am to 8 am at Hy-Vee Hall, lower level, in Des Moines. Two persons are needed for each day. Creating a Culture of Renewal- Pictured Rocks Camp, Monticello

Creating a Culture of Renewal training program registration is now open. This training is changing leadership across the country, and coming to the Iowa Conference now! For both clergy and laity, this program is directed by Rebekah Simon-Peter, and is designed to develop skills in leaders to accelerate church vitality and disrupt church decline. Rebekah has been a presenter in the East Central District for the past 2 years. Creating a Culture of Renewal is an empowering approach to self-awareness, leadership and ministry. Using emotional intelligence, you will master practical leadership tools to bring new life to your congregation. You will discover the vital interplay between interpersonal communication, group dynamics, and congregational culture.  Successful completion earns you a Certificate of Congregational Renewal. Grant Applications Are Now Available

2018 Unified Grant Application- is to be used for requesting grants from these committees: Standing Committee on Community and Institutional Ministries - these funds are for Shalom Zone Ministries, emerging ministries, connectional agencies, and health ministries, including parish nurse programs. Standing Committee on Hispanic Ministries - these funds are for support of Hispanic/Latino ministries and programming. Standing Committee on Parish Development - these funds are for new congregational development and revitalization of existing congregations. Unified Grant applications are due in the District Office by June 30.

EQUIPPING OURSELVES and OTHERS as TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERS

Summer Mission u, July 16-18 or Fall Mission u, October 20-22
"We are Called!" That's the theme of this year's United Methodist Women Mission u, and we're "calling" on women, men, youth, and children to share in a spiritual Covenant for Community, or your choice of study of the Missionary Conferences of the U.S., or Climate Justice. These events qualify for CEUs for pastors or professionals.

We have two dates from which you may choose: Summer Mission u, July 16-18, Sunday afternoon 3 PM to Tuesday afternoon; or Fall Mission u, October 20-22, Friday afternoon 3:30 PM to Sunday afternoon. Both are held at Iowa Valley Community College in Marshalltown, with several reasonably-priced hotels nearby for the two overnights.

September 1-2~ Basic and Advanced Lay Servant Training- Anamosa, First UMC
Both classes will be held at Anamosa, First UMC on Friday, September 1 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, September 2 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Cost is the purchase of the book and a donation will be collected for the noon meal at the church on Saturday. Lodging and other meals are on your own. Registration for classes can be found by clicking on the class you wish to attend; Basic Lay Servant or Advanced Lay Servant.
